A typical Charlie Kaufman story, but with puppets, I don't know how else to put it. I think most people will experience this movie differently.
It's got visual and audial elements like the "Malkovich, Malkovich" scene in 'Being John Malkovich'. Like everyone having the same male voice, which really reminded me of Southpark somehow (Team America anyone?).
Overall it's a pretty unspectacular movie if you're not in the psychological part of it. But it's worth a watch for any fan of Kaufman's other work. If you haven't seen any of his films you're better off starting with something like Adaptation (2002) though I guess, and see how you like that.
