Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo to Team-Up Again on Hurricane Katrina Project
Selma is one of the stand-out movies of 2014 as well as being one of the most talked about snubbed movies at many of the awards shows. But it looks as though director Ava DuVernay and actor David Oyelowo are moving on to another project together.
The pair are set to re-team for an as yet untitled drama set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina. The Hollywood Reporter notes DuVernay will direct, write, and produce the film, while Oyelowo is still in talks about starring, as well as producing. It will be executively produced by Jonathan King and Jeff Skoll of Participant Media— a company known for its socially and politically conscious pictures.
The movie has been described as a sweeping love story and complex murder mystery set against the backdrop of the devastating hurricane of 2005. DuVernay said, "The story we’re interested in will explore the complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself.”
