Bryan Singer still planning to direct 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Bryan Singer reportedly plans to direct the next movie in the X-Men franchise, despite recent controversy.

The director has been battling allegations that he sexually assaulted an underaged teen boy in 1999.

Singer was pulled from the promotional tour of his latest film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, prompting speculation as to whether he will be involved in the planned sequel.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the film's executive producer Simon Kinberg discussed the future of the franchise.

When asked if Singer would be on board to helm X-Men: Apocalypse he said: "That is the plan."

Singer's return to the franchise has so far been triumphant, with Days of Future Past generating positive reviews and making an impressive $90.7 million in the Us and $261.8 million worldwide on its opening weekend.

X-Men: Apocalypse is slated for a 2016 debut, and will focus on the cast of X-Men: First Class.
