Director Matthew Vaughn Confirms 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' Sequel

JamesArthurArmstrong JamesArthurArmstrong Kingsman: The Secret Service is arguably one of the surprise hits of the year so far, grossing over $400 million at the worldwide box office. News broke back in April that 20th Century Fox was developing a sequel, and now co-writer/director Matthew Vaughn has confirmed to Yahoo! a sequel is in the works.

“Well, the good news is that I’m writing it next door at the moment,” Vaughn said. “If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it. We are doing our damndest to make that happen.”

The sequel may also offer up a new element: an American agent character who'll work within the service. Another new element to the sequel may feature Vaughn directing the sequel — something he's never done.

“I’m in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I’ll probably be breaking the rule of me tending not to make sequels,” Vaughn admits.

When the sequel will begin filming is still to be decided. The filmmaker is currently a hot commodity, and he is currently working on the remake of 'Flash Gordon' for Fox.
