Idris Elba
Last year was a huge year for Idris Elba. It was a twelve months that saw him begin to cement his place as a potential "leading man of the future' within Hollywood.
He starred in the epic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom to critical aplomb and some may argue was unlucky to not be considered more strongly for an Oscar nomination. Either way, Elba is on a hot streak. He's appeared in his fair share of big blockbuster films (Thor: The Dark World, Pacific Rim and Prometheus) these past two years, which will no doubt do his credibility amongst Hollywood's elite, the world of good.
He's most known for his portrayal of DCI John Luther in the BBC's hit drama series, Luther. This role put his name on the map and gave him the springboard to go after Hollywood roles, and so far he's doing pretty well for himself.
