Jennifer Lawrence to star in a Mystique spin-off?
Ever since the X-Men franchise gained immense popularity, there has always been talk of doing spin-off films to focus on individual characters. Wolverine is the only one to have achieved this feat so far, but in the past there were plans for a Magneto spin-off as well as the much clamoured for Deadpool film. Now it seems that, following changes at the studio, we could be looking at more solo "X-Men" films.
"There was a regime at the studio that didn’t see the worth in spin-offs, and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we're going to do right by it," producer Lauren Shuler Donner said. "I'd like to do Gambit. I'd like to do Deadpool. We'll see. There's a lot of really great characters."
X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg had a different idea— a Mystique film lead by The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence.
"I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there's so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo."
We'll have to wait and see if any of these materialise, but it does seem another spin-off film of sorts will come from the X-Men franchise in the near future.
