During their Comic-Con presentation, Legendary Pictures had a surprise announcement of a new King Kong movie titled Skull Island.
Studio head Thomas Tull announced that they had “been tinkering around with one thing” and showed us some footage for a project that may be a long way away.
Skull Island is a fictional island that first appearing in the 1933 film King Kong and later appearing in its sequels and remakes.
Here is Legendary’s press release;
"Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions."
We aren't quite sure whether the movie will be based on Joe DeVito’s book Kong: King Of Skull Island. Skull Island has a 4th November 2016 release date.
