Matt Damon confirms he will return as Jason Bourne
It all started as an off-the-cuff remark in an interview about a year ago. Matt Damon stated he'd be interested in being Jason Bourne again, then the rumours began to circulate and now it's official.
Coming from the man himself, Matt Damon has confirmed he will indeed return as Jason Bourne in a new Bourne movie. It was Ben Affleck who originally mentioned Damon was to return to the role at a Project Greenlight event. With Affleck in some way letting the cat out of the bag, Damon decided say the following;
"Yes, next year we'll shoot it. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
So not only do we get Damon reprising this much loved role, we also get Paul Greengrass returning to direct. This is a double whammy of great news. Damon has long said he’d return to the franchise if Paul Greengrass came back to direct. Rumours had been heard that Greengrass agreed to come back, although producers denied the news, which is to be expected.
Damon has a busy schedule ahead of him. His next scheduled movie is Ridley Scott's The Martian then Alexander Payne's Downsizing with this new Bourne movie expected to fit in between those two movies.
