Matthew McConaughey Will Star in 'The Billionaire's Vinegar'
After winning his best actor Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey has been seeking out more reality based roles, and he may have struck upon another as he has signed up to star in The Billionaire's Vinegar.
Based on Benjamin Wallace’s book, 'The Billionaire’s Vinegar: The Mystery Of The World’s Most Expensive Bottle Of Wine,' to give it its full title, will examine the tale set in 1985 when a member of the wealthy Forbes family shelled out $156,000 at auction Christie’s in London for what they thought was a bottle of 1787 Chateau Lafite Bordeaux wine, supposedly part of a cache once owned by former US president Thomas Jefferson. But though billionaire Bill Koch originally bought the cache for $500,000, he later became suspicious and paid double that cost to have the bottles checked and discovered they were big ol’ fakes. He sued Hardy Rodenstock, a music manager and wine dealer who originally unearthed the bottles.
It's unknown exactly what role McConaughey will have in this movie that has gone through several years of development. It's expected the script will go through more writers and developers before landing a director.
McConaughey recently worked on Gus Van Sant’s 'Sea Of Trees' and is currently shooting Gary Ross’ 'The Free State Of Jones,' which released a first look at McConaughey looking all gruff. After that, the actor also has several other projects in the pipeline, with Stephen Gaghan’s 'Gold' ready to film soon, and running drama biopic 'Born To Run' close to landing his services.
