Netflix Aiming for Over 1000 Hours of Original Content in 2017
Netflix started out as a humble streaming service for films and TV series, but has ventured into the realm of original content to become one of the powerhouses in the creative industry.
The company behind worldwide successes such as House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Narcos and Daredevil want to expand, and will continue to do so at a rapid pace. Already, 2017 has new debuting shows A Series of Unfortunate Events, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and Punisher.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos spoke to Variety regarding the plans for the new year, with a total of 30 new shows in production and 20 other unscripted series ready for release next year.
Netflix is expected to release something around 1000 hours of original content, and probably more, as it climbs ever higher toward the top of the TV mountain.
