Poltergeist Remake Will Arrive Two Months Earlier Than Expected
20th Century Fox has bumped Poltergeist up by two months, from the 24th July to 22nd May 2015, delaying the releases of Spy and Paper Towns.
This new change of date will put the horror remake up against Disney's Tomorrowland, and another horror movie, Lionsgate’sThe Vatican Tapes. The shift in scheduling has caused a minor ripple through Fox’s upcoming slate. Melissa McCarthy's Spy, which was originally planned for the 22nd May, will now land in theatres on the 5th June, with the John Green adaptation Paper Towns, originally set for the 5th June, will take over Poltergeist’s old 24th July slot.
Poltergeist is directed by Gil Kenan (Monsters House) and stars Sam Rockwell, Jared Harris, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino and Jane Adams. It will reimagine the classic horror flick with a new contemporary feel to the tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. An official teaser for the movie was released last week, which can bee seen below.
