Judi Dench on Dame Sybil, Michelle Williams and Kenneth Branagh in My Week With Marilyn
Interview with Judi Dench for the movie My Week with Marilyn, where Judi talks about playing Dame Sybil.
On Michelle Williams playing Marilyn Monroe: "She has a fantastic concentration. But she is so totally immersed in it. She was awfully nice. And nervous."
Judi Dench also talks about working with Kenneth Branagh, who plays Laurence Olivier. "I've known Ken for a long time. And everybody said he's the new Sir Laurence. And rightly so. But I think he's a wonderful, wonderful casting."
She also talks about Paula Strasberg's relationship with Marilyn Monroe and playing Dame Sybil. "She actually befriended her and what was lovely was, I knew Dame Sybil quite well." Dame Sybil was also a friend of Sir Laurence, but defended Marilyn.
Judi later talks about the hysteria around Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and the advantage of personally knowing Dame Sybil, when she was still alive.
