Michelle Williams on growing up with Marilyn Monroe's poster above her bed

Michelle Williams interviewed about playing Marilyn Monroe in the biopic My Week With Marilyn.

Michelle says she really liked the script, when she first read it. "The script had a pace, and a flow, and a heart." And she just really liked Marilyn Monroe. She grew up with a poster of Monroe above her bed. "It was like a girl to girl kind of relationship that I had. I didn't feel like she was holding something over me. Some kind of sexual power that I didn't understand. She was just a girl spinning in the trees." At a certain point, after doing all her research, she filtered out all the noise and decided to play her Marilyn. The way Michelle Williams interpreted Marilyn Monroe. Now that she's played the part, she feels all the expectations. She didn't when playing her.

Michelle also talks about what you can take away from My Week With Marilyn and Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark. She first thought he was American. "There were some similarities between his upbringing and Colin's upbringing. But he's incredibly versatile." After that she talks about working with Kenneth Branagh, who plays Laurence Olivier in the film.
