Kenneth Branagh: Thor is an amazing superhero. He has this awesome hammer, extraordinarily powerful. Chris Hemsworth: Big shiny, very heavy. Kevin Feige: And with the hammer, he can create lightning storms, tornado's. Anthony Hopkins: Whoever holds this hammer, should posses the power of Thor.
In the beginning of the film, Thor goes against his father's word and the way things are done. He sort of takes of on his own and creates chaos and then is punished for it. Most of his powers banished. So he has to work very hard to find out who he his and how to get home.
