Danny Boyle confirmed for 'Bond 25'; December production announced

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor The Oscar winning director is poised to become just the twelfth director for MGM and EON’s Bond series

Fans rejoice! We no longer have to talk about the prospects of a Danny Boyle-helmed Bond film starring Daniel Craig. It's now official.

EON and MGM’s Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson made the formal announcement confirming what sorta felt like a foregone conclusion - Danny Boyle will direct the next Bond installment from an original script written by longtime screenwriting collaborator John Hodges. Additionally it appears Universal Pictures has come out the winner after a three year bid to acquire international and home media rights.

Boyle, who is a no-brainer talent with a sharp lens, previously collaborated with Craig at the 2012 Olympics. The bit (found here) features Craig reprising his role as Agent 007, who's escorting Queen Elizabeth II to London's Opening Ceremony. It was Boyle’s work with Craig that inspired the 61-year-old filmmaker to collaborate with Hodges to make a specific Bond installment.

Now here we are, six years later and Boyle, Hodges, and Craig have come full circle to see that vision come to life.

“Bond 25” will release on October 25, 2019 in the UK and November 8, 2019 in the US.

Up next: casting announcements! Stay tuned.
