Lakeith Stanfield and Olivia Cooke in talks to star in Disney fairy tale film

Disney+ is poised for world domination

Olivia Cooke and Lakeith Stanfield are headed over to Disney for a live-action fairy tale project written by 2014 Black List writer Cat Vasko.

Deadline is reporting that Disney has picked up Vasko’s script for launch later this year on Disney’s new streaming platform. Susan Johnson (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) will direct with Cooke and Stanfield in talks to star.

Plot details are being kept under lock and key. Vasko, a rising screenwriting star, has a few projects in the works including adapting Gin Phillips’ novel Fierce Kingdom - about a mother and son who are trapped in a zoo with a gunman on the loose - for Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. Vasko also wrote the script for Lillian Leitzel’s trapeze artist biopic ‘Queen of the Air’ also starring Margot Robbie, and she worked in the writers room for Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

Both Olivia Cooke and Lakeith Stanfield are rising, albeit established young stars who’ve earned enough equity to warrant plenty of excitement for Disney+ new film.
