Matt Reeves 'THE BATMAN' begins production

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Goodbye fan art. Hello set pics (hopefully soon).

Matt Reeves BATMAN era has officially begun - production.

The 53-year-old writer and director Tweeted this pic of The Batman’s clapperboard sitting comfortably atop the couch of the Wayne manor estate, or so it appears!

Filming is initially set to take place on Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. Incidentally, that happens to be the same location where Nolan filmed a portion of The Dark Knight. We'll take the connections - albeit very loose ones - where we can find em.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps however Reeves’ noir-detective rendition will see the "world's greatest detective” (Robert Pattinson) undergo a transformative character arc that will most certainly include encounters with Rogues Gallery elite - Penguin (Collin Farrell), The Riddler (Paul Dano) and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz). Additionally, Jeffrey Wright has been cast as Commissioner Gordon. Andy Serkis is playing Alfred Pennyworth and John Turturro is set to play Gotham’s notorious crime boss, Carmine Falcone. And last but not least is Peter Sarsgaard, who is playing Gotham D.A. Gil Colson. Not to be confused with Phil Coulson.

It will likely be a year from now until we see that first trailer footage of Pattinson as The Dark Knight - - accompanied by - - Michael Giacchino's thunderous score. It’s going to be amazing.

The Batman is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.
