"Bond 25" is closing in on a director - the shortlist is down to three

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor In a less than an eight hour period, "Bond 25" went from no director, to a shortlist of three, and now one clear frontrunner.

A Deadline report surfaced this afternoon confirming the three directors in the running to direct "Bond 25" are David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water), Yann Demange (’71), and Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner: 2049). According to Deadline sources, all three directors met with EON pictures and while Villeneuve and Mackenzie are still being considered, a new source out of Variety reports Yann Demange is now the frontrunner to take over the twenty-fifth Bond installment.

Now that the official release date is set for November 8, 2019, one of EON's immediate hurdles is the search for a new distributor, as its deal with Sony has run out. According to Variety it is believed that Warner Bros. is closest to landing the next movie. This confirms earlier reports of Christopher Nolan’s “Syncopy” co-producing Bond 25 along with long running speculation Nolan - a self-proclaimed Bond fan - and Warner Bros. would take the reigns after Bond 25.

I can't say EON could go wrong with either - Villeneuve, Mackenzie, or Demange but hearing Villeneuve's name breathes some life back into "Bond 25"

What say you? Any of these directors excite you or do you prefer a different artistic lens?
